Surprisingly, after escaping prison yet again “Swamp Bandit” John Ashley returned to Palm Beach County where he was eventually tracked down in a remote area in the Everglades. The resulting gunfight with Sheriff Baker and his posse led to deaths on both sides and an intensification of their blood feud.
