Operation MAZURKA is the Australian Defence Force’s contribution to the Multinational Force & Observers (MFO). Established in 1981, the MFO mission is to supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of its terms. The Australian Defence Force contingent fills key positions within the MFO, such as military liaison officers, operations, security and logistics roles, at both South and North Camps located in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt.
On ANZAC day we remember the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) soldiers who died on 25 April 1915, and all personnel who served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. We reflect on their courage, discipline and self-sacrifice.
The ANZAC spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all Australians as we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who contributed so much to shaping the identity of our nation.
Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia and serving around the world will commemorate ANZAC Day through dawn services and commemorative services as a mark of respect to those who have served.
