ADF | Exercise Coastwatchers

Exercise Coastwatchers is the premier bilateral exercise between the Australian Defence Force and Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), delivered under the Defence Cooperation Program. The exercise is named after the Coastwatchers of World War II who worked alongside the heroic Solomon Scouts.

Throughout 2025, Australian Army members of the 3rd Brigade will conduct three rotations of Exercise Coastwatchers with training programs including low risk search, border surveillance, first-aid and weapons packages, as well as small boats handling and maintenance.

Taking a whole-of-government approach, agencies including the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, Customs and Immigration, Corrections, Services Emergency Response Group, and Solomon Islands National Disaster Management Office attend Exercise Coastwatchers activities.
