Army’s Red Berets dropped into into Allianz Stadium Sydney



The Australian Army Red Berets parachute display team thrilled the Roosters vs Dragons NRL match crowd when they dropped in to the new Allianz Stadium at Moore Park in Sydney on Anzac Day 2023 to deliver the match ball.

Trailing red smoke, the three Red Berets negotiated tricky winds before swooping inside the stadium’s narrow roof opening to land safely on target in front of the 40,000 near-capacity crowd.

Former Roosters captain and coach Brad Fittler was on hand to accept the match ball from the Red Berets.

The Red Berets was formed in May 1974 and, today, is made up of Army instructors and staff from the Australian Defence Force Parachuting School.

The ADF Parachuting School is part of Special Operations Command’s new ‘schoolhouse’ training system and reports to the Commandant of the Defence Special Operations Training & Education Centre.

Special Operations Command’s mission is to prepare and employ special operations forces to defend Australia and its national interests.

Special Operations Command is a small, high-tempo and diverse multi-disciplinary team drawn from Navy, Army, Air Force, Australian Public Service and contractors who continuing the 78 years of Australian special operations experience and sacrifice since World War II.
