Chancellor defends tax rises ahead of spring statement



Sky’s Trevor Phillips asks the chancellor if the economy has declined since Labour came to office, and she replies: “The economy is not growing fast enough. I’m not satisfied with the numbers that we see at the moment.”

Rachel Reeves goes on to say that it is “not possible within just a few months to reverse more than a decade of economic stagnation”.

“But we are making the changes that’s necessary to get Britain building again, to bring money into the economy.”
