In this video, we will analyze some of the recent events in the Turkish Defense Industry and evaluate them.
Our first topic is about the Aselsan-produced Cenk S radar, which is planned to be used on the istif class frigates under construction for the Turkish Naval Forces. It is planned to build a total of 4 frigates in the istif class.
4 Ada-class corvettes were built for the Turkish Navy between 2011 and 2019 within the scope of the Milgem project.
Thales-produced Smart S Mk2 radar was used as the main search radar in Ada class corvettes. Some Aselsan production parts were also used in the radars, and the integration of the radars to the ships was done by Aselsan.
After the completion of the Ada class Corvette project, the Milgem program continues with the istif class Frigate construction project.
Aselsan has developed the Cenk S radar, a more advanced version of the Smart S Mk2 radar, for Milgem istif class frigates.
The first ship on which the Cenk S radar will be used will be the F 515 TCG Istanbul, the first ship of her class, which is currently under construction.
According to the media resources, the Cenk S radar will be an AESA type radar. It is stated that the range of the radar can be twice the range of the Smart S radar.
Our second topic is about Mine Detector Ozan developed by Tübitak Bilgem.
The Foldable Metal Mine Detector called Ozan was developed by Tübitak Bilgem so that security forces can quickly, easily and with high accuracy search for mines and improvised explosives in cross-border and intra-border transfer zones and other areas whereever they are needed.
More than 1300 Ozan Foldable Metal Mine Detectors were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces within the scope of the Metal Mine Detector Supply Contract signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries of Türkiye and Tübitak Bilgem. Additionally, the same number of Ozan mine detectors were exported to Azerbaijan.
It is understood from the images posted by the Azerbaijani army on its official social media account that the Ozan mine detectors received by the Azerbaijani Land Forces are being actively used in the demining process of the regions that are recently liberated from occupation in Karabakh.
The Ozan system, which is a 100% Turkish design, was designed by taking into account of the needs of the security units working in the operational area with its compact structure and low carrying weight of 1480 grams.
