The heat is on in Newport News Shipbuilding’s Foundry! Watch as- NNS shipbuilders prepare a rudder casting for U.S. Navy aircraft carrier Doris Miller (CVN 81). In the video, the casting is placed in an industrial oven and heated to nearly 2,000 degrees before being put through the quench water process to increase the material’s toughness.
