Work on Enterprise (CVN 80), the U.S. Navy’s third Ford-class aircraft carrier, continues at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division. Watch this time-lapse video to see shipbuilders lift the first of two 400-ton vertical side shell portions into place. Both of these units are over 80 feet long and require multiple teams of shipbuilders to fabricate, install and weld into place.
