First War Crimes Trial For Captured Russian Soldier Begins In Kyiv

A war crimes trial for 21-year-old Russian tank unit soldier Vadim Shyshimarin began in Kyiv on Friday. He stands accused of shooting an unarmed 62-year-old man who was on his bicycle from an open car window in Chupakhivka. Shyshimarin faces life in prison under the penalties spelled out in the section of the Ukrainian criminal code that addresses the laws and customs of war.
