Five Power Defence Arrangement exercise concludes

The Australian Defence Force has deployed a contingent of approximately 250 personnel to participate in Exercise BERSAMA SHIELD 2023 (BS23) in Malaysia. BS23 is an annual training exercise conducted between nations of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) – Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

BS23 is designed to exercise the militaries of the FPDA in combined joint operations in a simulated multi-threat environment to enhance our interoperability and strengthen professional relationships.
The FPDA came into being in 1971 and is the only multilateral security arrangement of its kind in Southeast Asia.
