Honoring Veterans

Veterans Day was established by Congress in 1954 to honor all veterans, and replaced Armistice Day, which was established in 1938 to honor veterans of WWI. Today, we care for wounded, injured and ill veterans at more than 1,200 health care facilities made up of 168 medical centers and more than 1,000 outpatient clinics across the country. When Veterans Day rolls around, don’t just ask thank a veteran, ask them their story.
