Out on a mission with a Ukrainian FPV interceptor crew hunting Russian fixed-wing reconnaissance drones.
Winged recon drones might not seem like much compared to the “explosive” headlines garnered by Shaheds and fiber-optic FPV strike drones, but they remain one of the nastiest threats on the front. They are not just “enemy eyes in the sky” — they direct long-range 152 mm artillery and guide Lancet loitering munitions. These winged drones are the ultimate silent killers, submarines of the sky, if you will. Consequently, they are hunted relentlessly.
But the job isn’t easy: enemy wings are fast, agile, hard to spot, and sometimes even ordinary birds interfere with the pursuit. So the whole crew — the pilot, navigator, and radar operator — have their work cut out for them.
