Newport News Shipbuilding division has completed the first of 10 new superlifts for Enterprise (CVN 80), the U.S. Navy’s third Ford-class aircraft carrier. The superlift, which combined what would have been 17 separate lifts into the dry dock, is part of an improved build strategy that allows for larger sections of the ship to be built earlier with increased outfitting.
