The Sun defence editor Jerome Starkey, based in Zaporizhia, updates Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell on the Ukrainian war, following the bombing of a maternity hospital in Mariupol.
Jerome Starkey said: “We counted nine buses arrive in Zaporizhia from the town of Enerhodar. Enerhodar is the town that is, that exists to serve the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
“You will remember, that was the nuclear power plant seized by Russian forces a few days ago, causing huge concern to, not just Ukraine, but to the whole of the international community because there was reports of shelling and damage.”
He added: “Most of those hopes of those safe corridors have been dashed significantly, most of all, the humanitarian corridor from Mariupol in our southeast, which has repeatedly failed, and thats one of the cities thats facing the worst conditions. Civilians there are around 400,000 people trapped in the city.”
