Shotgun Rampage

All kinds of videos are popping up on YouTube on “How to defend yourself against FPV drones.” Here’s how we deal with them in Ukraine.

Mobile drone-hunting groups from the “Predator” Brigade of the Ukrainian Highway Patrol Police, operating in the Toretsk sector, Fall 2025.

(Caution: Kids, don’t try this at home! These shotgun-toting cops are hunting fiber-optic FPVs, which are clumsy and semi-blind. The frontline kamikaze FPVs are far more agile and are typically targeted by an additional observation drone.)

*Notes:*

(01:08) “Predator” claims to have shot down a Russian “Molnia (Lightning)” fixed-wing attack drone there.

(01:16) Ambush drone (Дрон ждун) — a fiber-optic FPV drone deployed in ambush, lying in wait for passing vehicles.
