Student Gaza protests: Columbia students defy ultimatum to end anti-war encampment

Pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University have rejected an ultimatum issued by the universitys president, Minouche Shafik, to disband their pro-Palestine encampment by 2pm ET.

Sueda Polat, a student organiser, told reporters that the universitys negotiating position evidenced an elementary understanding of the words boycott and divest and they would not be moved unless by force.

Columbia University has been at the heart of a student protest movement calling on their institutions to cut ties with Israel and join calls for a ceasefire.
