The Papal War on Communism Almost Cost a Pope His Life



At the conclusion of World War II it’s claimed that the Vatican, acting on behalf of the victorious Allies, helped shuttle key Fascists out of Europe so that they could help with the fight against the spread of Communism. Some 35 years later the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II suggests that the Communists were striking back at the Vatican and Western Powers.
