UK defence minister says US-led Yemen strikes were acts of self defence

James Heappey has said that overnight airstrikes on targets belonging to Houthi rebels were in self-defence. The strikes are designed to deter and prevent the Houthis from launching more attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, which began in October in support of Hamas against Israel after the war in Gaza broke out in October. The strikes in Yemen killed at least five people and wounded six others, a Houthi military spokesperson said on Friday.
