Speaking to Times Radio Breakfast, Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik said the country was preparing itself to a battle in the East, and anticipate it to be “Lord of the Rings level”.
Answering questions from Aasmah Mir and Chloe Tilley, about Boris Johnsons visit to Kyiv over the weekend, she said: “It was indeed very uplifting for Ukrainian people that we get the support and not only by words, but by actual actions.
“So people were surprised, people were extremely happy. And the news were all over the place.
“However, despite the promises that prime minister Johnson was giving on the support and additional weaponry, we still did not hear that we are getting the heavy weapons that we need.
“As you know, Ukraine is getting ready to this battle in the East. Russia is gathering forces there. So we anticipate it will be Lord of the Rings level battle, good versus evil.”
She also details her visit to Bucha, and the “atrocities” she witnessed.
She said: “This is something that will stay with you forever. And these are the things that are an imaginable. And we, right now, know that there are more places like that.”
