Liberation of the village of Nadiya (Hope) by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, on March 23, 2025.on March 23, 2025.
Info:
Intelligence reported up to three platoons of enemy infantry defending the village. The plan was to penetrate deep into the enemy defenses, bypassing the forward positions, and cut off logistics support to the forward line.
The assault was carried out by a simultaneous attack in two different locations by the “Karakurt Colony ” (the 3rd Company , 2nd Mechanized Battalion) and units of the 2nd Company of the 1st Infantry Assault Battalion.
Despite the initial setbacks — the “Karakurt Colonny” got bogged down in a lightly defended but heavily mined tree line, and the group from the 1st Battalion got dropped off in the wrong location, with their M113 dying on them — the attack was successful.
As a result, the 3rd SAB liberated the village on Nadiya, two nearby forested areas, and four tree lines, leveling out the front line on the outskirts of the Luhansk Region, and forcing the enemy to use up reserves from neighboring sectors.
The initial assault took 30 hours.
Enemy losses (counted by the 1st Assault Battalion, including the kills by Brigade artillery and UAV units) during the initial assault: 56 KIA, 8 ran away.
And another 120 KIA were tallied across the Brigade during the enemy counterattacks over the next three days — close to two companies total.
