The Australian Army’s 7th Battery, 9th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery (9 REGT), tested its gunnery skills supporting the 5th Brigade’s foundation warfighter, Exercise Waratah Run, held at Singleton Military Training Area in March 2023.
7 Battery’s support to the exercise included live fire serials designed to certify the Battery ahead of TALISMAN SABRE 2023; and included the deployment of Joint Intelligence Support Teams (JIST), Lightweight Multimode Radar (LMMR) and Joint Fires Teams (JFT) in a variety of tactical scenarios supporting the reinforcing effect being generated by 5th Brigade.
WARATAH RUN culminated with a Combat Team clearance of the Urban Operations Training Facility and provided opportunity to qualify members of 9 REGT, as basic Artillery Forward Observers (AFO) and as Artillery Section Commanders.
