The Royal Australian Air Force received new Queen’s Colour on the occasion of its centenary on 31 March 2021. During the ceremony, held at Government House in Canberra, all of the colours, standards and banners of the Royal Australian Air Force were marched on parade, and a mass flypast took place.
From modest beginnings at a single base – Point Cook – Air Force has evolved into a world-class, fifth-generation force which contributes air, space, and cyber power for joint effects.
More than 350,000 Australians have served in the Royal Australian Air Force since 1921. As many as 11,191 have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country, most during the Second World War. As a consequence, 3,145 Air Force members have no known grave. Their service and sacrifice will be remembered forever.
Now, as the Royal Australian Air Force moves into its second century it will continue to preserve its proud legacy and maintain an enduring commitment to supporting Australia.
