Australian Army soldiers from 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR), have arrived in Chinderah in northern New South Wales to help locals by doing a kerbside clean up of flood-damaged household items.
Australian Defence Force personnel are deployed on Operation Flood Assist 2022 to assist New South Wales and south-east Queensland communities respond to the floods.
Defence has significantly increased the number personnel on the ground helping to clean up, with more than 6900 personnel either on-task or available for tasking today. Their tasks include aerial search and rescue, medical evacuation and reconnaissance, as well as clearing routes in flood-affected areas, supporting communities in clean-up and the delivery of essential supplies to isolated areas.
Defence is contributing to the Australian Government support to the Queensland and NSW governments under Operation Flood Assist 2022.
