Newport News Shipbuilding recently completed the first two of about 320 superlifts for Enterprise (CVN 80), the U.S. Navy’s third Ford-class aircraft carrier. The superlifts – which each weighed hundreds of tons – form part of the carrier’s flat bottom, and one even included steel from CVN 80’s namesake, Enterprise (CVN 65).
