Israel Conflict: Egypt delay border opening to prevent ethnic cleansing’ of Gaza

“Egypt fears that those Palestinians would then become a permanent refugee population in Egypt, as Palestinians have become in Syria and Jordan and Lebanon. That is effectively a form of ethnic cleansing that cant be allowed.”

Times’ correspondent Richard Spencer says Egypt are “not prepared to allow” the Gazan population to permanently relocate across the border.
