Russian soldiers look scared | Maria Avdeeva

'Russian soldiers look scared' | Maria AvdeevaMaria Avdeeva is the research director at European Expert Association, and is currently in Kharkiv.

She told Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell about life there as the city is currently being targeted by the Russian military.

She said: “I have no electricity where I live since yesterday evening, meaning that there is no possibility to, you know, prepare some food and boil water.”

She added: ” I have seen that there is almost no food left in the supermarkets and there are long lines outside them to just to get in.

“But then even if you get in, probably there will be nothing left already. No bread supplies and medical supplies as well.”

She talked about the Russian soldiers who have been captured by the civilian Ukrainian army.

She said: “They are sometimes young conscripts that didnt know where they were, where Putin actually throws them because they were told at first they were going on the training and when they realise that they are on the territory of Ukraine, theyre not ready to combat, not ready to fight, they put down the weapons when they see the intense fight.

“And from the Ukrainian side, they look scared basically.”
