“Safari” in Toretsk

A Russian assault group is trying to besiege the ruins of a building defended by Ukrainian cops from the “Safari” Assault Regiment (part of the “Fury” Combined National Police Brigade), fighting tooth and nail in the streets of ruined Toretsk. This is just one battle, on one day, in “Safari’s” 35-day rotation in that hellhole — 35 days of continuous shelling and wave after wave of enemy assaults.

*Notes:*

Footage is mostly from the GoPro of a soldier, call sign “Gryz”.

The Ukrainians are besieged inside a building, with no eyes on the attacking Russians until a recon drone from the “Svarog” team shows up to give them a sitrep.

The soldier at the end, trying to lure the Russians in, speaks with a thick accent — much to everyone’s amusement.

(8:06) “Dill eaters” — A Russian slur for Ukrainians. It plays on the word _ukrop_ (Russian for dill) and the fact that Northern Ukrainians are immensely fond of putting dill on everything, from lox to eggs to potatoes.
