Should Britain do more for refugees? | Jeremy Hunt

Should Britain do more for refugees? | Jeremy HuntSpeaking to Matt Chorley, chair of health select committee Jeremy Hunt said that he would like the UK to do more to help refugees.

Priti Patel has overhauled the Ukraine family visa scheme to speed up lengthy bottlenecks that are stopping refugees from coming to Britain, according to The Times.

Jeremy Hunt said: “I think that Priti Patel did listen to concerns raised on all sides of the House of Commons this week about the fact that Ukrainians in the UK trying to get their family here, were being told they had to go for appointments at visa centres to give biometric details, and they couldnt get those appointments.

“If were going to see 4 or 5 million Ukrainians leaving the country, were not going to feel that were showing British generosity if weve only got, you know, a few tens of thousands here, so I think we should do more.”

Jeremy Hunt also talked about threats to democracy in the West, whether anything could have been done to stop Vladimir Putin and the Brexit referendum.
