T-80 from the swamp

Infantrymen of the 93rd Brigade “Holodny Yar” pull a brand-new Russian T-80 BVM out of a swamp. (Early March 2022).

*Notes:*

(0:30) “Verily, those Siberian numbskulls have never seen a plowed field before.” — a play on a commonly held Ukrainian belief that the soil in northern Russia is frozen and that the Muscovites are too dumb, too drunk, and too lazy to cultivate their own farmland.

(1:18) “Let’s say, we’re _mobilized…”_ (i.e. mobilized into military service) — a perfectly vague evasion meaning they can be anybody — from officially enlisted men to enterprising guerrillas snatching a tank to wage their private war against Russian invaders. In essence, the chap is saying, “Don’t ask silly questions. It’s on a need-to-know basis. And _you_ don’t need to know…” The interviewer, to her credit, catches on the fly.
