Prime Minister the Hon Scott Morrison, Minister for Defence Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds, CSC, and Minister for Defence Industry the Hon Melissa Price joined Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, AO, DSC, in a visit to RAAF Base Williamtown, on the 8th of February 2021.
The first F-35A aircraft has been inducted into BAE Systems Australia’s (BAESA) maintenance depot as part of the next major milestone in the Australian Joint Strike Fighter Program. The BAESA facility near RAAF Base Williamtown has been selected as the maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade depot for the Southeast Asia region, the BAESA facility will host Australian F-35A aircraft and in the future, F-35 aircraft from other nations.
