The Turkish Navy made a comprehensive change in its combat fleet and classified some of its ships as “Test and Training” ships. Additionally, the classes of some ships were changed.
As a result of this development, which removed aging ships from active duty and replaced them with new and modern ships, we have summarized for you the latest situation of the current combat fleet.
We tried to reveal the fleet’s ship types, ship classes, average ship age and the level of current naval warfare technology on the ships (each in its own ship type) in comparison with other examples in the world’s navies.
The Turkish navy operates mainly with frigate-type ships and Milgem Ada-class corvettes.
Burak class corvettes are now classified as Patrol ships.
A serious renewal is expected in the combat fleet in the coming period, together with the TCG Istanbul and other frigates of the I (or Istif) class, which are under construction.
Although TCG Anadolu is listed among the Landing Ships and Vehicles section of the Naval Force Web Site, in our opinion, it is one of the most important parts of the combat fleet.
TCG Anadolu position and influence will change with the integration of Bayraktar’s TB-3 and other aircraft.
Hisar class offshore patrol ships, which are under construction, are not included in our video. There is no doubt that Hisar class patrol ships will make a significant contribution to the fleet. We preferred to wait for the first ship to enter service.
We hope you enjoy watching. We are very happy to see your ideas on the comment section.
We continue our videos on defense sector.
See you in the next video, stay safe.
