Aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) leaves Newport News Shipbuilding following the ship’s first planned incremental availability (PIA). The PIA involved six months of modernization and maintenance work to ensure the carrier has the most current upgrades prior to her maiden deployment.
