What happens if Putin deploys nuclear weapons? | Robert Brinkley

What happens if Putin deploys nuclear weapons? | Robert BrinkleyAmid tensions with the West over Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian nuclear deterrent forces on alert on Sunday afternoon.

Reacting to this latest news, former British Ambassador to Ukraine Robert Brinkley told Times Radio that Russia would be well-advised not to use nuclear power against the West.

He said: “Its a bit rich for him to accuse us of taking unfriendly actions when hes engaged in unprovoked aggression against a peaceful democracy.

“Like what hes trying to do is make us all afraid and quaking in our boots.

“But lets not forget that the United States, the UK and France have their own nuclear deterrents.

“So if Putins Russia, were ever stupid enough to think about a nuclear attack, that would have devastating consequences for Russia.”

He also detailed whether diplomacy could succeed amid such tensions.
